The compression options

The daily and sport compression socks apply graduated pressure and use a different sizing method. They should not be described as loose-top diabetic socks, and they are not an automatic choice for everyone with diabetes.

Socks and footwear together

Sock thickness and cuff design can change how a shoe fits. Try footwear with the sock you intend to wear and inspect both the inside of the sock and the foot after use if sensation is reduced.

Are all three products non-binding diabetic socks?

No. The TDO Therapy therapeutic sock is the non-binding option; the two Variteks products are compression socks.

Can someone with diabetes wear compression socks?

That depends on circulation, sensation and the reason for compression. Ask your diabetes care team or another appropriate clinician before choosing compression.

What should I check after wear?

Look for redness, rubbing, a deep cuff mark, broken skin or moisture. Do not rely only on whether the sock feels comfortable when sensation is reduced.

Socks are one part of diabetic foot care. Seek prompt advice about new redness, swelling, heat, broken skin or a change in sensation.
